Set a 24 hour perimeter around your Twitter Account!

That’s right, a 24 hour perimeter. No a terrorist has not taken over this blog and this is not Jack Baur.

This is a simple tip, but critical to keeping your brand in front of your connections. Think of some clever headlines of what your doing or planning that can be short and to the point. Add these little updates in your profile everyday, this in turn shows up in all your connections that you have updated your profile. If you need to add a url that is very long then go to www.tinyurl.com to shrink it down. Very cool and simple way to compact more of a message into little a smaller number of characters.

Do Not Accept Multiple Invitations At Once!

Do Not Accept Multiple Invitations at Once!

I repeat DO NOT accept multiple invitations at once! As this feature does not allow you to send a message back to the invite.

Why not respond in MASS?

You are missing an opportunity to respond to every single invite. This is why you are on Linkedin right? To grow your network, communicate your brand, and secure a resourceful pipeline for years to come…right?

Then every single invite is your time to communicate you or your brand in a short 2-3 bullet message. It needs to be short and sweet. Otherwise people will not read it. Think about what you want communicated and a way to secure an ongoing conversation with the connection whether it be directly or indirectly through your website, blog, twitter account, etc…

Today is the day to capitalize on your connections. Also see my post on “Your Profile Is Your Resume” to best receive a return on your communication to your new connection.

Which Linkedin groups should I join?

Which Linkedin groups should I join?Which Linkedin groups should I be in?

  • This comes down to your “target markets”, in other words which groups would you like to get your “brand” in front of?
  • Once you have decided this then you should “keyword” search for those type groups in the groups directory.
  • Join the groups that seem to have the most momentum i.e. number of members and show numerous discussions and new members joining in a week along with solid content.

Belonging to the right groups is only part of it, submitting quality post/discussions and answers is important as well. Now participating is only part of it as well, each post should have a “branding” signature you leave behind. With a key phrase, website, or call to action on you or your brand.

Finally any articles you write for your website or blog (now is a good time to have a blog or website….hint-hint) can easily be submitted to a group at the bottom of the groups overview. This drives more “organic” traffic to your blog or website.
